  Exactly what Curd said! You have to make things happen for yourself. I love this hard truth. It’s so refreshing.
  
  Regarding your last “I don’t get it” e-mail (November 10th), I’m hearing such negative feedback and I don’t understand why! Is it your tough-love attitude that is pissing subscribers off, OR is it because they are truly in denial about their own weight-loss/training regime, and feel the need to find someone to deflect their anger and guilt on – other than taking a long hard look in the mirror and find out they should only be mad at themselves? They chose to get pissed and play the victim instead of getting up off the couch and start torching the fat!!!
  
  You should not have felt the need to send a follow-up apology e-mail. I for one did not take offence to your tough love e-mail, but maybe that’s because I understand what it takes to reach your diet/fitness goals.
  
  I for one, realize that you do care about my goals – hence the reason you send these weekly emails in the first place!!

First of, let me start by saying that unsubscribing to Shane’s e-mails because you felt “offended” or “opposed” his methods is horse piss really!!!!!!!! What that is is an indication of the type of person YOU are which is: AN EXCUSE MAKER. You are the type that goes through life blaming this and that for your shortcomings or failed attempts at making yourself happy. I understand that “life happens” and “it ain’t easy” but let’s get one thing straight. You cannot expect to make anyone else happy in life if you don’t start with yourself first.
Now that said, instead of finding reasons to whine, get your ass of the couch, step away from the potato chips and go for a walk, go for a hike, a bike ride, join a bootcamp. If you put half the effort you used to make excuses into torching fat and making a conscious decision to change your life, you’d realize that it’s far more rewarding to make small advances forward than to be steady taking two steps back and then bitching about it.
Bottom line, get over it, and get your ass to the gym tubby!!!!

  I would also like to point out that if you think I am some 6ft tall 195lb guy who is 3% body fat your wrong. I WAS that person i just spoke of. I made excuses day-in and day-out why i COULDN’T go to the gym or why I ate so badly etc… I made the choice to change my life and so can you. In March of this year, I was 5′ 9″ tall and weighed in at 227lbs when I started with PhysXtreme bootcamps. I conditioned myself for the next 4 months using Shane’s training. I then switched over once I felt more confident in myself and my bodies ability to train. Now 4 months into Strength training, I am proud to say I have dropped to 192lbs and have begun to see incredible gains in muscle tone on my body. Believe me, the truth hurts sometimes, but its worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have read these comments with interest. I am however offended by Shane’s comments. I like Shane and I think that what he is trying to do is great, but not reading an email in the time he thinks it ought to be read is a bit much.

Just because someone doesn’t read his email the second it arrives in their in box does not mean that they won’t.

Perhaps the folks on the email list have demanding jobs, have young kids – heck it really doesn’t matter the age of the child as they can take up ones time regardless, are out working out after their day at the office and the only time they have to catch up on their personal emails is on the weekend.

Of course there may be folks on the list who won’t open the email and they may be the ones making every excuse under the sun for not getting up of the couch. Berating them is not, in my humble opinion, the way to motivate someone. Rather why not focus on the folks who are motivated and want to strive to get better all the time. And perhaps one day that person who makes excuses to not workout will see something that really peaks their interest and that will be the trigger to get them moving.

Cheers from a highly motivated individual who didn’t open Shane’s first email when he thought I should have, but who because of a demanding job and running close to 100km per week only has time on the weekends to catch up on personal emails.
